The Credit Union Service Company of Virginia was established in 1993 to address credit unions' need for additional physical branches. By pooling their resources, credit unions were able to lease service facilities in high-traffic areas, which otherwise would be cost-prohibitive. The firm now boasts 53 credit union investors;6. 9 million in invested capital; and more than $16 million in assets. The firm currently operates nine shared branches throughout the Commonwealth and has partnered with Virginia Credit Union to provide an outlet branch in Stafford.
