Library in San Antonio, TX
Library in San Antonio, TX The San Antonio Public Library Foundation was created in 1983 to bring back the important role of the private sector in helping to enhance Library resources and services. Because the city alone could not secure funding to understand the Library's long-term requirements, the Library Foundation went to work and began raising funds from several sources, including individuals, corporations and charitable foundations.

San Antonio Central Library
read moreEach year we work with Library staff to define mutually beneficial programs and efforts that match the Library's needs with the community and our donors' interests. Since 2019, and moving into 2021, our biggest fundraising focus is on the transformation and creation of a Texana Resource Center at the Central Library. The 2017 Bond Program provided $700,000 to begin the first phase of the project, and the Library Foundation is committed to bringing private dollars to the table to allow for a state-of-the-art center on the 6th floor of our flagship library.
About Us
read moreNonprofits are only as worthy as their Board members. Although the Foundation was established as a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization in 1983 by local business and civic leaders to augment the Public Library's budget, it's our Board members who are, and have been, critical to the success of our organization. We rely on our Board members for so many important things - professional skills, connections, and resources. We are deeply grateful for all the volunteer time they give to improve our library system.
