In 1954, exhausted by the lack of services and attention received by the local banks, a tiny group of educators from Bethlehem, Guilderland, North and South Colonie schools came together to organize the First Supervisory District Federal Credit Union. The idea was to have a financial institution that would supply the services and rates that were finest for them. In its humble beginning the credit union operated from the Treasurer's kitchen. Services included loans and savings accounts up to $2, 000. Many of those who worked so hard for the credit union then are still part of it today.
