On Aug. 8, 1949, I joined this world in Jacksonville, Fla. I was adopted there in 1954. My career focus while in Florida was advertising sales. I got married, and my son was born May 29, 1972; my daughter was born May 19, 1978. In September, 1974, my husband, son and I moved to Virginia Beach to begin a carpet cleaning business. By 1982, I was on my own. With my son, Jason, and daughter, Lori, I expanded the business to include several phases of home improvement. I began and sold a beauty shop and an indoor miniature golf business.
