Laser hair removal works by targeting the dark pigment (melanin) in the hair. The intense heat of the laser destroys the hair follicle. Blonde, grey, and red hair doesn't have enough pigment to reply favorably to laser hair removal. Two different lasers are used in this clinic depending on skin type. A candela mini gentlelase with a 755nm wavelength known as an alexandrite laser is used to treat fair to olive skin type. A Yag laser with a 1064 nm wavelength is used to treat darker olive skin.
