read moreIn 1976 a group of concerned citizens representing the City of Bridgeport, Bridgeport Housing Authority and other neighborhood agencies formed the West End Neighborhood Advisory Council. They saw that there was a desperate need for medical and dental services in southwest Bridgeport and submitted a request for Public Health Services, Section 330 funding to the Department of Health, Education and Welfare to provide health care to their impoverished neighborhoods. The Health Center became a reality when the Advisory Council received the "Notice of Grant Award" in August 1977.

read moreThe Pediatric staff providescomprehensivepediatric healthcare up to 21 years of age, including immunizations, sick visits, well-child check-up (physical), and other preventive services. Adolescent care is a particular focus, with an emphasis on complete teen health and pregnancy prevention. Efforts are being stepped up to battle theincrease of asthma in children inthe community through our participation in the National IHI Pediatric Asthma Collaborative, and the RAND study. This health center is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n).
