Early in 1955, Walter T. Morey started to consider the formation of a new bank in Decatur. On July 15, 1955, an application to organize a bank in Decatur, Illinois was submitted to the Auditor of Public Accountants. On October 17, 1955, the permit was received for the chartering of Soy Capital Bank. On June 9, 1956, Soy Capital Bank opened it's doors for business at 1501 E. Eldorado. Soy Capital Bank became Soy Capital Bank and Trust Company, indicating the bank's capability to administer trusts, in January of 1970.
