Mr. Curtis S. Willmott, father of John W. Wilmott, owned a huge tract of land which included the present site of Spring Valley Golf Club. He was married to Jane Armstrong Webb. Mr John W. Wilmott, who married Irene Etta Cruse, began building his home in 1936 and it was completed in 1938. This home is now the Spring Valley Golf Club Clubhouse. The architect was Mr. McMeekin and the stone work was done by Jim Guy. Mr. John Wilmott was very sensitive to fire hazards and he wanted his home to be as fireproof as he could make it. He used steel girders instead of wood, very thick stone walls, and lots of concrete.
