
The focus of this long-term research project is too determine the mechanisms of failure of Cretaceous Age Pierre Shale and evolve engineering protocols for new construction, and mitigation as well as evolve quantitative criteria for avoidance. An additional major objective is too evolve a process for determining long-term stability of similar areas. This project investigates and monitors several active landslides within the city limits of Colorado Springs, Colorado. On-going activities include:
