In the Divine Service, Christ comes to us with His gifts, offering forgiveness, reassurance, strength, and guidance through His Word and Sacraments-Baptism, the Lord's Supper, and Confession & Absolution. The services at St. John's are traditional in both form and content, in keeping with the practices of the "one holy catholic and apostolic church." You may have noticed that the list above addresses what "we do, " but that's not the focus of the Divine Service.

We practice closed communion for two reasons: 1) to prevent harm to an individual who should not be participating in the Lord's Supper (e.g., one who doesn't believe that Christ's body and blood are truly present in the Sacrament), and 2) to recognize and uphold communion as a public confession of united belief.

With every sermon, we strive for a faithful and engaging proclamation of God's Word that's neither shallow nor beholden to cultural whims but instead holds fast to the timeless message of salvation through Christ alone.

The group has its own space in the church basement, where students can relax in a cushy chair with their friends, play a game of ping-pong, or see if there's anything to eat in the kitchen. Youth Bible studies are held here, as are meetings and special events.
