In 1987, she attended a one year course in Optics at University of Alabama, Birmingham. She has co-owned three optical practices in Alabama. In 1998, she moved to East Tennessee and continued her career in Optical. Lynn came to work at Tennessee Valley Optical Center in April, 2001.
