Texas Capital Bank was began by a group of entrepreneurial bankers who set out to build The Best Business Bank in Texas. Launched in December 1998 with an initial capitalization of $80 million (believed to be the biggest start-up bank in U. S. History) the firm was established by Texas banking icon Joseph M. Jody) Grant, PhD, author of two banking books and American Banker's Community Banker of the Year. Since then, Texas Capital Bank has expanded from a tiny, private firm into one of the biggest independent banks in Texas with more than $5. 3 billion in assets. The Bank is publicly traded on NASDAQ under the symbol TCBI.
