The Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority is a quasi-public agency founded by the state in 1973 to modernize Connecticut's solid waste disposal. CRRA enabled the state to replace a patchwork of town dumps by making a major dedication to trash-to-energy and backing it with recycling and safe, modern, engineered lined landfills. Today, CRRA's goal is to work for - and in - the finest interests of the municipalities of the State of Connecticut.

read moreOn June 6, 2014, Public Act 14-94 established the Materials Innovation and Recycling Authority ("MIRA") as the successor authority to CRRA. As of this date, MIRA assumed control of all of CRRA's assets, rights, duties and obligations. CRRA has a fiduciary responsibility to its member cities and towns to provide the best possible services at the lowest possible cost. That responsibility extends to our business relationships. CRRA contracts with a wide variety of companies to operate its facilities and provide environmental, engineering and other services.
