Thunderboats Unlimited. Is a non-profit corporation founded by a group of committed Southern California racing enthusiasts, to promote powerboat racing in San Diego, and increase tourism in the beach area. The group was initially brought together by the late legendary hydroplane racer Bill Muncey, for whom the 2 mile race course is named, but soon grew to include individuals from all kinds of the community. A Board of Governors was established to oversee race operations and give fans in attendance an enjoyable, excellent regatta.

Just a few hours of your time helps put on one of the largest not-for-profit sporting events in the City of San Diego. Volunteers are needed for setup, during the race weekend or assist with tearing down. Bayfair offers a variety of volunteer opportunities including racecourse perimeter boats, hospitality, and assist with parking and tickets. All volunteer meetings start at 6:30 pm and will take place at Paradise Point Resort, 1404 Vacation Road, San Diego.
