For the same reason you would not wear your workout shirt everyday without washing it, you should wash all of your sports equipment regularly. All athletes sweat, especially those wearing bulky protective equipment such as hockey, football, lacrosse, and motocross equipment. Over just a short time the equipment begins to stink, eventually become grungy and teeming with bacteria. Wearing the same gear over and over again without washing it not only is disgusting, but seriously increases the risk of skin infections.
