It all began around 1986 when Jerry Tucker began restoring classics vehicles in high school to aid pay for his college tuition to ASU to become an Architect. In 1992 while working full time as an Architect, Jerry finally succumbed to his passion for classics, and opened Tuckers Classic Pickup Parts, running it from his house, with open hours from 6pm to 9pm, Monday through Friday. In 1993 the decision was made to leave architecture and focus full time on Tuckers Classic Pickup Parts, moving into their 1st store front in Las Vegas.

In 1983 a fellow Ypsilanti Area Street Rods member asked him to machine a billet aluminum steering column. Ken produced the first of many thousands of ididit columns shortly after and demand grew quickly. First one rodder wanted one, then a friend would see it and ask Ken to make one like it. By 1985 Ken and his son Scott were in a steadily growing business. Ken believes if you can't proudly say "I DID IT!" the ididit component should not be shipped.
