Kodokan Judo began on the path of becoming the dominate Ju Jitsu school by defeating all other schools in a famous tournament at the Tokyo Police Department in 1886. World huge recognition came with Judo's formal inclusion in the Olympics in 1964. It is now the most widely practiced form of Ju Jitsu and any martial art in the world. Judo is a comprehensive self defense system. In addition to throwing, choking & arm-locks, atemi waza (kicking, punching) wrist-locks, leg-locks and defense against weapons are practiced in the Self Defense program (Seniors only)
