In 1985 Vallarta Supermarkets began its journey when it opened doors in a comfortable 1, 000 square foot market in Van Nuys, CA. Averaging weekly sales of $8, 500 with 5 employees was very difficult to maintain, as the Gonzalez brothers, now owner operators, began learning the grocery business from ground up. Vallarta Markets had an uphill adventure to embark on to develop a reputation of service excellence.
