Vanworks. Began in 1978 in the mind of Keith E. Hess, who now serves as president. With a construction background specializing in carpentry, he built the vans one at a time. Production was about one custom van per month on a part time basis. In 1983, Vanworks moved into a 3, 000 sq. Ft. Facility at 360 Jefferson Street with two employees. Vans were earning popularity as family vehicles and there were very few pre-owned vans on the market. Retail clients started buying new vans at dealerships and bringing them in to be customized.
