
Established in 1906 as a fabrication firm, Washington Auto Carriage built and repaired horse-drawn buggies, stagecoaches, and cargo wagons. Washington Auto Carriage built wooden school bus bodies with roll-up canvas windows. Later, the firm made shackles for the state prison in Walla Walla, Washington. Several of the shackles are on display in a local museum. The firm built a mining crew bus in its early years. In 1954, Washington Auto Carriage moved from a smaller shop in downtown Spokane to its current location.
