Organic Food Store in Minneapolis, MN
The Wedge Co-op has been a feature of its South Minneapolis neighborhood since it began in 1974 on Franklin Avenue, in the basement of an apartment building just up the hill from Lyndale Avenue. A group of neighbors met that summer to organize a cooperative store to supply themselves with whole and natural foods, preferably in bulk quantities to save money. The co-op name comes from the popular nickname for the Lowry Hill East neighborhood, called The Wedge due to its shape.

Each bringing over four decades of experience connecting people to local growers, suppliers, farmers and producers with health, sustainability, ethics and community in mind. Together we are building community by developing a strong, local, food system. A consumer co-op is a business owned and democratically governed by its customers. That means that unlike a corporation, our purpose isn't to accumulate profits for investors, but rather to meet the goals and aspirations of our community.
