My individual history in the automotive business started at my grandfather's auto dealership, Standard Motor Car Company. He had purchased the business in the late 1940's after being a highly successful salesman there. As a young boy I worked there beginning doing various chores, parts sales, mechanic work, and finally working as an assistant service manger until the business was sold in the late 1970's. I decided at that time to break from the automotive field and try something else, so I went to school for industrial instrumentation. I pursued this industrial career for about 5 years, specializing in rotating equipment diagnostics. When I returned to the automotive field, I realized that my industrial experience had given me a very different perspective of purpose and necessity to correctly repair any given problem. I then worked for Prevost Motors for a short time as shop foreman handling all technical training and troubleshooting problem cars from Volvo, Volkswagen, and Dodge as well as managing a shop with 17 technicians.
