Psychological assessments can include cognitive evaluations, ADHD assessment, learning disability assessment and assessment of emotional functioning. Children who may be considered for gifted placement can also be assessed. Private school admissions testing is also offered through our practice. Learning Disability Assessment: Determining a learning disability requires cognitive, educational and, often, ADHD assessment.

read moreWe provide psychotherapy services for children of every age. Parent guidance and consultation is generally the format used for the youngest children. However, children as young as two or three are sometimes seen in our office. Parents typically have many questions about their children's development, adjustment and coping. Thus, parents are always seen for an initial interview before a child is seen. Play therapy is a modality of choice for children who are pre-school through early school years.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy works to change the content of one's thoughts in order to promote changes in behavior. Co-parenting therapy is provided to separated or divorcing parents to facilitate their communication and ability to work collaboratively on behalf of their children.

read moreDr. Pattee provides assessment and diagnosis of children and adolescents with ADHD, learning obstacles and emotional or behavioral problems. Dr. Pattee also completes assessments of children for educational placement in kindergarten, private schools and gifted programs. Dr. Pattee obtained her Ph. D. in 1993 from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in Clinical Psychology. She earned her Master's Degree in General Psychology from the University of Richmond in 1989. She completed an internship at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children in Richmond, Virginia.
