Cheryl and David Smith opened Bluescreek Farm Meats in the North Market, May of 1993, without a clue of what to expect. Both Cheryl and David were raised on farms and have been farming their entire lives. But in the more recent years, before 93, they got involved in raising a breed of cattle that was very lean, and very tender (Belgian Blue) They decided the meat they had was just too nice not to market it directly to the user. They heard about the North Market and decided it was worth checking out. The next thing they knew, they were selling Beef and Lamb at the North Market.

read moreJamie started working at Bluescreek beyond the occasional customer here and there at the ripe age of 12. Child labor laws don't exist with family businesses. She attended the University of Akron before deciding to get her TEFL Certification in Greece in 2012. She later traveled the world where she discovered her real passion for food that she didn't want to go unanswered. She now works full time keeping everyone on task, managing the website and multiple Bluescreek social media outlets. All while enjoying her husband and son's loving company.

Being able to utilize every aspect of the animal and honor that animal is one of the many things we love about what we do. We do our best to provide the best quality product for your family and ours. Raising almost everything we sell in our raw meat cases ourselves, with no growth hormones or antibiotics the way our grandparents used to do it is something we treasure. We also offer locally raised veal, bison and poultry (Gerber Chicken and Bowman & Landes Turkey).
