Your Trusted Martial Arts Training in Alexandria, VA
Founded in 2003, the Chinese-Indonesian Martial Arts Club (CIMAC) specializes in Liu Seong Gung Fu, a unique hybrid of Southern Chinese kung fu and Indonesian pencak silat. Our curriculum, rooted in the teachings of the late Grandmaster Willem Reeders, emphasizes practical self-defense techniques over sport applications. With over 25 years of teaching experience, head instructor Erik Harris leads small, personalized classes that cater to individual learning paces while maintaining rigorous combative training standards.

We integrate external martial arts' hard power with internal energy practices like Ba Gua Zhang, ensuring students develop tactical awareness and physical fitness. Our instructors, including guest instructor Chris Colombo, bring decades of combined experience and direct lineage from Grandmaster Reeders' teachings. Classes at Franconia and South Run Rec Centers are limited to 15 students to guarantee personalized attention, avoiding the 'one-size-fits-all' approach common in larger martial arts schools.

Self-Defense Instruction
Self-defense programs focus on real-world scenarios through controlled sparring and circle attack drills. Training includes ground fighting, multiple opponent defense, and situational awareness development. Techniques prioritize efficiency and practical application over sport competition.
Sparring Drills
Structured sparring sessions develop reflexes and adaptability through dynamic partner drills. Students practice sensitivity training, reaction exercises, and flow drills to improve combat timing. Sessions emphasize controlled intensity while maintaining technical precision.
