Language School in Portland, OR The Alliance Francaise de Portland is a nonprofit cultural and educational organization with annual enrollment of 900 students annually in French classes in the historic Kamm House in downtown Portland, as well as social and cultural events in the Portland metropolitan area. The group is a chapter of the Paris-based Fondation Alliance Francaise which is the world's biggest network of French language and cultural centers, with over a thousand chapters in 135 countries.

Today, there are 1000 chapters in over 130 countries. Founded in 1933, the Portland chapter fell dormant during WWII, was reinstated in 1983, and was later chartered as a teaching Alliance. There are 114 Alliances in the US, and we are the only Alliance in Oregon. The mission of the Alliance Franaise de Portland is to promote the French language and culture.
