Calvary Moravian Church

Churches in Winston Salem, NC
Churches in Winston Salem, NC The Church in Salem, true to the traditional Moravian avoidance of poaching on the membership of other churches, declined to expand into the newer town of Winston with its founded Methodist and Baptist Churches. But as more and more Moravians moved into Winston, the Home Moravian Church was presented with the obvious problem of serving its own people, who by now were faced with fairly long journeys to get to church. there were other souls to be reached that, for whatever reason, were not being reached by Winston churches.

About Us
read moreAs a community of faith in the Moravian Church, we invite all into a relationship with God, growing in all ways into Christ, and sharing God's love with others. According to Moravian teaching, these are the essentials: God's grace: God creates, God saves, God blesses us; and our response is to follow Him in faith, love, and hope. Visit our Ministries page to learn more. Bishop Sapp has served as the pastor of Calvary since 1996. He graduated from High Point College with a major in religion. He then attended Moravian Theological Seminary in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he received his Master of Divinity degree in 1987.
Ministries
read moreSharing God's love with our members and in the community is one of our highest callings. We do this through our internal ministries, which you can learn more about here, and through our involvement with City with Dwellings, Crisis Control, Forsyth Jail & Prison Ministries, and Sunnyside Ministry. Calvary Moravian is also committed to serving the poor and homeless in our downtown community through our support and participation in the overflow homeless shelter during the winter months. Music is one of the central aspects of the worship service each week and is an inherent worship tool for all Moravians.
