Mental Health Services in Houston, TX For 118 years, DePelchin has been servicing the kids and families of the Houston area. The agency was established in 1892 by Kezia Payne DePelchin to shelter orphaned kids. It was originally named the Faith Home, because Mrs. DePelchin had faith in the wonderful business leaders of Houston to support her cause. Although she died within a year, the community leaders, touched by her passion and mission, became united in their determination to carry on her work.

An accredited foster care and adoption agency, DePelchin serves the most vulnerable children and families in Texas and works to break the cycles of abuse and neglect. Private Post Adoption
read moreThrough its private post adoption program, DePelchin provides support services to families who have either placed or adopted a child through its private infant adoption program, including information and referral, consultation and search and reunion. Many individuals touched by adoption come to a point in ther lives when they consider searching for their birth child or birth parents. This is a normal and healthy desire, and DePelchin's experienced staff have the ability to search for and facilitate communication between adoptive and birth family members.
Family and Youth Success
read moreDePelchin Children's Center offers free individual and family counseling in addition to parenting support through its FAYS Program. Families in crisis need immediate help. Crises often involve a breakdown in family relationships and come in various forms: a child running away or problems at school. DePelchin helps families work through issues through its FAYS program. A family must live in Harris, Fort Bend or Waller County and have a youth, ages 3-18 years old, to qualify for the FAYS Program.
Counseling
read moreDePelchin provides high-quality counseling services to children ages 3-18 and their families. Our clinicians are trained in a variety of counseling modalities including play therapy techniques and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. We provide services in English and Spanish. Infant Adoption Program

We're here for you and want you to succeed in making the right choices for you and your baby. Through our Infant Adoption Program, we work to match birth parents with loving families who are eager to welcome an infant - 2 yr. Support services are available to birth parents regardless of their age or family background. Our Infant Adoption Program may provide birth parents a single service or a combination of services depending on the needs of each individual.
Families COUNT
read moreDePelchin Children's Center Families COUNT program provides free office-based or telehealth counseling to children ages 3-17 and their families. Counselors address issues such as depression, anxiety, school problems, family conflict and much more. Every child age 3 or older will receive a mental health assessment. This in-depth assessment will help identify and address any existing or emerging mental health issues, particularly issues related to trauma. If mental health issues are identified, all families will receive an individualized plan tailored to meet the child and family's needs.
Our History
read more2009 - DePelchin's first specialty program, DePelchin Autism Services, was launched to provide coordinated assessments and other therapeutic support services for children whose symptoms suggest an autism spectrum disorder and their families. 2012 - DePelchin expanded beyond Greater Houston by joining with Caring Family Network, an Austin-based foster care and adoption agency with locations throughout Texas. 2016 - DePelchin refocuses its mental health services on childen in the foster care system and children at risk of entering the system.
