Dixon Dance Academy opened for business in 1994 at The Loft Studio on Main Street in West Dundee. The 1st recital was held at Elgin High School and was a great success. By the 2nd year, the studio had moved across town to its current location on Route 31 in West Dundee, behind the former Helix Fitness Center in the Century Plaza. The tiny studio housed all of the classes for our 2nd year in business. During our 3rd year, the fitness center suddenly closed, allowing Dixon Dance Academy to more than double in space.

read moreDixon Dance Academy offers thirteen competition-level classes that focus on the joys and the compromises of being a part of a team. Teams are Large Groups (minimum of 9 dancers) that will compete in at least one Spring Regional and one Summer National Competition. Team dancers are required to take at least one additional weekly Technique class. A Company is a Small Group (maximum of 7 dancers) that will compete in four or more Regional Competitions and one more National Competition. Company dancers are required to be placed on a Large Group Dance Team, thus need to take at least one additional weekly technique class.

read moreDance recitals are a huge part of a dancers life and learning - after weeks and weeks of training and preparation, recital offers students an opportunity to show off everything that they have achieved over the past year. Great job this year dancers! As of February 24, Recital Tickets may be purchased for the Elgin Community College Recitals. Go to the Visual and Performing Arts Center box office in person to avoid extra fees, call (847) 622-0300, or on line at www.tickets.elgin.edu.

read moreWe are placing group orders for most of the necessary shoes and dancewear for dance teams. Pick up a form at the front desk and look for our shoe poster to help you make your selection. Put down dancer's street shoe size and we will adjust accordingly per style. All shoes and dancewear are shipped to the studio. We will be placing orders every other Thursday morning. If you have any questions call at (847) 836-5678. IMPORTANT: Please note that the color of recital shoes will be known in December when costumes are ordered.
