Museum & Art Gallery in Tucson, AZ A graduate of Michigan State University and the University of Arizona, Mary was an expert fundraiser when she began her 1st quilting project: a round-robin Seminole quilt began by her sister Nanci. That project is still in pieces, but Mary caught the quilting bug and opened her own business, El Sol Quilting Studio, five years later. She has quilted over 1000 quilts and her customers have won numerous awards at national, regional and local quilt shows.

About Us
read moreThe human need to make order out of chaos fascinates me. We try to control other people, our feelings, and even the weather without recognizing the ultimate futility of most of those efforts. It seems to me that (unless we are very lucky) our happiness depends in some part on learning what we can control, and seeing the beauty in the chaos we cannot manage. Themes of chaos are prevalent in my work: whirling, changing, contrasting, shapes and complementary colors. Images mutate, crack, fade, or recede.
read moreI will exhibit panels of booties at all events I attend. If your guild members are working on several panels, please exhibit them at a meeting or event and take photographs. If you contact me with that information, I will put it on the website. This page is for major installations of The Mourning Project. Stay tuned for updates. I have two bags of booties (made from felt) which a friend and neighbor made and since she is out of town, I got them from her husband who returned to Tucson yesterday.
