Fellowship Missionary Baptist

In 1982, Dr. Elton T. Byrd came to the conviction that the Lord had need of a new church in Newark, New Jersey. On May 16, 1982 at 2:00 p.m. A meeting was held at Hopewell Baptist Church with more than 300 followers from the Abyssinian Baptist Church. From this meeting the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church was organized under his leadership. The 1st worship service was held on May 23, 1982 at the True Love Baptist Church, 584 South twentieth Street, Newark, New Jersey. After a soul-stirring message by Dr. Byrd, 74 people joined the congregation.
