1st Baptist was established in 1822 as the 1st congregation in the new city of Indianapolis. We moved to our current location in the spring of 1960. For more than 185 years, we've been engaged in active and vital ministry in the city of Indianapolis and the world. 1st Baptist Church is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches (ABC) USA. As a local church and a member of ABC of Greater Indianapolis, we're fully dedicated to faith in the gospel message of God's unconditional love for the world. Jesus Christ is our living example and the Holy Spirit is our guide for relating to those in our own congregation and throughout the city, the nation, the world.
