First Church In Boston
read moreWe warmly welcome you to First Church in Boston, a friendly, vibrant church, open hearted and open minded. First Church is a Meeting Place for the independent spirit, and we hope you'll join us in worship, fellowship, and the hope of justice! Services take place every Sunday at 11 AM. Starting Sunday, March 22, for the safety of all, members and visitors alike, only direct participants in the Sunday Service at 11 am can be admitted into First Church Boston. This protection will be in effect for the near future.
About Us
read moreFirst Church is a paradox, as it stands at the corner of Berkeley and Marlborough in Boston's Back Bay. Yes, we are the oldest church in Boston, established in l630. Yet after the great church fire of l968, we built the newest and most innovative church structure in Boston in response. In this sense, we are a living symbol of Unitarian Universalism-- sensitive to the past, but not bound by that past into narrow and lifeless creeds. We respect tradition, but we seek religious truth that reveals itself in the future, not the past.
Worship Services
read moreAt our Sunday morning services, we create a space for expressing thanks, feeling peaceful, listening for that "still small voice within, " and experiencing the challenge to live lives with commitment, compassion, creativity and clarity. We sing hymns, hear our professional choir, engage with talks from our ministers and members, and share quiet time in prayer and mediation. Every Sunday Morning at 11:00, people holding a wide spectrum of beliefs and doubts join together to raise their spirits and voices in thanks for the life we have been given.
