About Us
read moreLocated in the heart of Boulder, we are a vibrant, intergenerational, multicultural, theologically progressive Christian church. As a congregation of the United Church of Christ, we believe in a God who is "still speaking." In other words, we trust, as our Pilgrim forbears prayed, that "there is yet more light and truth to break forth from God's holy word." We celebrate our commitment to be a congregation living out faith as a journey, compassionate service, and inclusion of all. In our life together, through worship, learning, service, and care, our lives are formed and transformed as followers of Jesus.
Worship Services
read moreWe open an ancient Word of Scripture and find it still speaking to us today. We join our voices in song and find our hearts beating as one. We are invited to listen for the leading of the Spirit in our lives and to follow Jesus, who shows us how to love. Through our worship, the hearts and hands of young and old are shaped for service. Blessed by our time together and by all our prayers, we are sent out to be a blessing to others. Monthly, Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. An informal family meal, prayer, song, a reflection on Scripture, and Holy Communion in Plymouth Hall.
Sermons
read moreWe believe the grace and love of God extends to all people, many of whom encounter faith from a variety of perspectives. This belief is reflected in our sermons and worship services. Drawing on scripture, scholarship, society, and self-reflection, the goal of our sermons is to keep people talking about God's extravagant welcome.
Children
read moreFor ages birth to 3 years. Our Toddler Room is a lovely space designed with our youngest children especially in mind. It's filled with developmentally appropriate toys and furniture and is supervised, for more than 20 years, by Ginger Johnson, M.Ed., who provides a safe and loving environment for all our little ones. She's a pro at helping with separation anxiety for children who are not used to being away from their parents. In fact, many of our parents say that for their toddlers, coming to church is "going to see Ms. Ginger."
Youth
read moreA sense of wonder and curiosity about the mystery of God and the meaning of human life imbues every part of our life together. Middle and High School Youth are encouraged to ask bold questions, to develop a beloved community of belonging, to explore concerns for social justice, and to be of service in the wider community. Middle and High School Youth meet twice a month following worship for fun and community building. One Sunday a month we share a meal and play games at the church. The other Sunday we travel for a shared activity somewhere in the wider community.
History
read moreOur church leans into the future with a vision of where and how we might best serve God's people. We treasure our historic sanctuary and our beautiful modern FAITH Center. Both are used by hundreds of people all week in the vibrant city center that did not exist when our founding pioneers built the first church. We build spaces for people yet to come and ministries yet to be conceived, as we step out in bold, progressive Christianity. In 1864, fourteen spirited souls founded our church in a cottonwood grove east of Boulder near Valmont Butte.
