About Us
read moreForsyth Veterinary Hospital was established in 1953. Through the years there have been several owners. The practice was bought in July of 2005 by Dr. Ruth Gillis. She is the primary veterinarian and owner. As the neighborhood around us continues to grow, so does the hospital. At the present time, Dr. Gillis has one other veterinary colleague working with her, Dr. Kieya Scott, to help keep all of the patients at Forsyth Veterinary Hospital in the best of health. We are a dedicated team and our goal is to provide your animals with the best care!
Veterinary Services
read moreHere at Forsyth Veterinary Hospital, we provide a full range of veterinary services for dogs, cats, and most exotic or "pocket" pets in Winston, New-Salem, Clemmons, Lewisville and Lexington. Regular wellness evaluations enable our skilled veterinary team to detect illnesses or injuries before they can develop into major health crises. Vaccinations should usually be started at a very young age, and then "boosted" periodically to maintain protection against potentially deadly infections. Preventative medications are also necessary to guard against flea, tick, and heartworm infestation.
Microchipping
read moreIf you are like most pet owners, you go to great lengths to make sure your cat or dog is at home, safe and secure. You may even put a collar on your pet - but what happens when the collar comes off? Even with the most vigilant care, pets can and do sometimes escape the confines of their homes or yards. Dogs can slip out of their leashes and cats occasionally sneak past the door. Your beloved pet might get lost, wander away or even be stolen. To help identify found dogs and cats, our Winston-Salem veterinarian suggests microchipping pets.
Pet Vaccines
read moreOne of the most important parts of a pet wellness exam is a schedule of regular vaccinations. Even housebound pets that rarely or never go outside need to be vaccinated. Pets wander, visitors bring their pets with them, and germs can be passed to your pet in any number of other ways. Here in Winston Salem vaccinations are even regulated by law when it comes to the most serious easily transmitted animal disease. It's crucial for your pet's health and well being that you keep its vaccination schedule up-to-date beginning with the first months of its life.
