The donor is led to believe that his/her donations and the money they spend in the thrift stores directly benefits the charity the for-profit firm represents. The reality is that the for-profit operation may donate only a portion (sometimes as little as 5% back to the charity. Although this is not true with ALL charity-related thrift stores, we trust that donors should be informed.
