Heart Of The Canyons Church

In 1984, at the request of retired missionary, Robert A. Wells, a staff of summer missionaries from the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention spent their summer months surveying the Santa Clarita Valley. Their aim was to determine potential locations for starting new churches. That survey indicated that this community was between 80 and 90 percent unchurched. In 1985 the Home Mission Board asked Phil and Terry Bradley, two church starters, to come and begin a new church. On Easter Sunday of 1985, the Canyon Community Church had its beginning.
