All Jay Haide instruments are hand-made of quality seasoned maple and spruce and have a tone quality and workmanship normally found in those costing much more. Violins, violas and cellos are available in four models.

read moreOur rental stock and sale stock of instruments are kept separate. However, if you rent an instrument for one year, we will credit you 6 months of that rental towards the purchase of an instrument of equivalent or higher value. We need to see any instrument before we can give a repair estimate. We will always give you a repair estimate for free and wait for your approval before starting any work. Unfortunately, we cannot give repair estimates over the phone or by email. Our repair shop is closed on Saturdays.

The great violin shops of the past were not only famous for their selection of instruments and bows but for the quality of their repair and restoration workshop. The names of the heads of these workshops are almost as famous as the shop itself. We are very proud of our repair and restoration shop. Headed by Haide Lin, our shop does only the highest quality repair work, whether it is simply gluing of an open seam or a highly complex restoration of a fine old Italian violin.

On a limited basis, we also offer our experience for items purchased elsewhere. In most cases, it is difficult or impossible to establish who made a given instrument or where it came from. We've showed instruments of uncertain lineage to several well-known experts. In most cases, none could agree as to the maker or even country of origin. After all, unless you were actually in the workshop when the instrument was made, how can you tell for sure who the maker was?

read moreThis flatback bass is patterned after the work of Vincenzo Panormo. Paul taught at the Violin Making School of America where he trained some of the most important makers working today, including Jay Ifshin. Made in our own workshop, this 3/4 bass has an antiqued varnish. The classical Italian model is patterned after the work of Vincenzo Panormo, with full upper and lower bouts. Beautiful sound and nicely flamed wood.

Examine your instrument carefully for any issues that might contribute to premature breakage of strings. Once installed on your instrument, STRINGS ARE NON RETURNABLE. Thank you for your understanding. With very few exceptions, string manufacturers have a strict policy of not refunding/replacing strings once they have been installed on an instrument.
