About Us
read moreImmanuel's Reformed Church (IRC) is a member congregation of the United Reformed Churches in North America (URCNA). We are located in Salem, Oregon. IRC's first service was held on December 22, 1991. Seventy-five people attended this initial worship service with much praise and thanksgiving to our God for his faithful care. Our theological heritage goes back to the sixteenth century Protestant Reformation and we seek to continue that Reformation teaching still today at IRC. We believe that the Bible alone is God's true word from our lives and that we are saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
Outreach and Missions
read moreUGM is a local shelter whose focus is to reach those who need food and a place to sleep in the Salem area. People who come to the shelter are provided a hot meal and a bed. The people in need also have an opportunity to learn more about God, Jesus and the Gospel through a devotional time. Hope Pregnancy Center is a local shelter that offers pregnancy counseling, referrals for ultrasounds, abstinence education, parenting programs, post abortion counseling and adoption counseling to women, men, and families.
What We Believe
read moreThe Bible is the Word of God. Every word of the sixty-six books of the Bible is God-breathed (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:21). Therefore, the Bible as God originally inspired it is without error. The Word is the only deposit of truth in this fallen world (John 10:35; Psalm 12:6; Numbers 23:19). Because it is God's inerrant Word, we believe that it is the standard by which all of life must be measured. In a world corrupted by sin, it is the only infallible and authoritative rule of faith and life.
What to Expect
read moreWe offer a nursery for infants and toddlers from newborn to age 2 during education hour and all worship services. Children ages 3-7 are welcome to join our Sunday School program, which starts at 9:45 am each Sunday before our morning service. Our program leads children in worship through Christian songs and teaching Bible stories. For children ages 8-18, we offer various age-appropriate Catechism classes. These groups are instructed in the doctrines of our church which are based upon Scripture and summarized in our creeds.
Our Pastor
read moreHello, my name is Todd Joling. I have the delightful task of ministering God's Word at Immanuel's Reformed Church. Before coming to Immanuel's in 2019, I served a congregation in Illinois for many years. I am very blessed by my wife, Joy, and our five children whom we are currently homeschooling. We enjoy reading, woodworking, gardening, and hiking in God's beautiful creation so abundant in Oregon. We are thankful for new eyes to see the beauty of God's majesty, and we want to make known to a withered world the life-renewing glory and grace of Jesus Christ, as revealed in the Bible.
