ISC was established by Steve Burk and Loc Ha. They have worked together since 1984 at Tri-Tec Engineering, a leader in molded cable assembly technology. Tri-Tec was acquired by Kierulff Electronics in 1986. Steve later became president of Tri-Tec, prior to the firm later being acquired by Berg in 1991. In 1991 they joined together to own IEI. Here they developed a leadership position in the PCMCIA market. Richey Electronics, wanted to expand its capabilities into the molded cable assembly business and aligned itself with IEI in 1993 to evolve these capabilities.
