Mattingly

Born in 1916, founder Anthony J. Thomas Sr. Was still a young boy when his father moved his family to the US in 1924. When the family arrived in the US they had no money or possessions. They had only a strong work ethic and the lure of The American Dream Seven years later, at the age of fourteen, Tony dropped out of school and took odd jobs to support the family after his father became sick. By 1946 he had saved enough money to open his own business, A. Thomas Meat Market. It was a tiny storefront meat market in the Haymarket district of Louisville, Kentucky.
