read moreBeginning on MAY 1, 2014, I will be taking a year's sabbatical to complete and publish a book on how to change negative life patterns to more positive patterns or "HABITS." This book has been "in the works" for years now. As you will see when you go through the session, there is no trickery. You will not be "quacking like a duck", as apparently happens on stage shows. This is not a show. The work is for your transformation as a human being. Please, DO NOT watch this on your phone or anywhere else where you need your full attention, such as when driving.
About Us
read moreI, ANNE MILLIGAN know that people have a lot of questions about a potential Counseling Therapist. That is natural, and I am going to tell you a little about myself and my practice:. 1. I am currently completing an Advanced Certification/training in the neuroscience of hypnotherapy. In short, this means that I am learning much more about the human brain, how we store memories, and how we go about changing thoughts and patterns of behavior when they are not working for us. 2. I no longer am interested in seeing people for the sole intent of filling out paperwork or satisfying a lawyer's intention to use therapy to gain information for a lawsuit case.
Therapists
read moreOne of the most exciting things about living in modern times is the advancement that science has made in understanding human behavior and how the human brain works. As a Counselor/Therapist, I (Anne Milligan) am particularly interested in how this relates to Clinical Depression. Over the years, I have met many people who consider themselves generally happy, but when they peer deper into their lives, they realize that they actually could be a LOT happier! I've also met (as I'm sure you have) many people who just never get past a certain low level of negativity.
Counseling Therapist
read moreI (Anne Milligan, LCSW) am always amazed at the number of people who need help at various times along life's journey and yet never actually end up in a therapist's office. I am sure a lot of this has to do with a deeper self-conscious insecurity about what "others might think" if they find out the person is seeing a therapist. Asking for help is tough for almost everybody. Making the first phone call is really the hardest part of all. Most of my clients are surprised at how easy it is, once they are in the office, to talk about their lives and concerns.
Hypnosis
read moreThe above video gives you a chance to practice a very brief introduction to hypnotherapy by changing a negative memory to positive energy and good feelings. For many people, the only impression of hypnosis they have gotten is from television or other versions of "stage hypnosis." I'm amazed at the number of people I meet every week who wonder if hypnotherapy is like "that." I want to assure you that it is not. Please know that, like most professional therapists, I do not play mind games with my clients.
Marital affairs
read moreAs anyone who has ever experienced the emotional pain of a marital affair will tell you, the sense of betrayal and grief is a lot like going through a death. It most certainly is the death of the relationship as the couple knew it. I (Anne Milligan) have seen many couples in therapy eventually come to realize that the affair was a wake-up call that heralded a whole new life (WITH REORGANIZED PRIORITIES) for the relationship. I have also seen marriages crumble beyond repair and two people destined to a life of bitter hate for each other (and many scenarios in between, including the development of a false recovery of the relationship, based on continued dishonesty between one or both of the individuals).
The Power of Intention
read moreAsk yourself "What is my intention for therapy"? Don't stop asking yourself that question until you come up with a clear answer. What is the final thing (the end result) that you want to see happen, once therapy is over? Go ahead and think about that right now, (see the end result in your mind as clearly as possible), and write down a few things you come up with. Next, (even if you did peek at this paragraph first), ask yourself if your ideas about therapy involve MORE CHANGE FOR YOURSELF or MORE CHANGE FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
Counseling therapy
read moreOver 25 years ago, I set out upon my own "vision quest" to try and find my place in the world and reconcile the "religion" of my childhood with a "spirituality" I knew I could believe in and live fully. At the time, I would not have guessed that the majority of my spiritual growth was meant to be inward, in the place of the heart, and would grow right out of the deep wounds of my childhood. But that is exactly what happened. The Spirit of God is ALWAYS working in our lives to promote inner healing, so that we might grow back into the true person we were in the beginning of our time on earth.
