Mt Calvary Evangelical Luthern

Churches in Peoria, IL
Churches in Peoria, IL 1st and foremost, we confess that God has called us to proclaim the historic and Biblical Faith that salvation is given to us in Christ Jesus alone. Christ is the center of the Scriptures, and we seek to keep Christ at the center of all we do and say. We're bold to declare with the Church of all ages that by the gracious work of the Spirit and across the Word, women and men born to sin and death can be reborn to eternal life in Christ. This new life is a life of faith, and is less concerned with our works than with clinging faithfully to Him Who is our Redeemer.

Mt Calvary Evangelical Luthern
read moreThe ministry of God at our place of worship can be summed up simply: we preach the historic Faith, we celebrate using the Church's classic forms of worship, and we show the love of Christ that has redeemed us, with a friendly face. Calvary is made up of people who are called to a journey of faith. On this website you will find descriptions of the activities and programs that occur at Mt. Calvary. It is our hope that you will find this congregation a place where your walk of faith can find a strong foundation.
What We Believe
read moreLutherans don't so much look for what will make them "different" from other denominations, as they seek what will join them to Christ through the faithful keeping of what the prophets and apostles have taught. Fallen humans are only restored to live with God by His good will toward us, shown in Christ. We can do nothing to earn or deserve God's love. A believer receives the benefit of God's grace and Christ's work by trusting God's Word and promise. Faith is not so much a "decision" as it is the movement of the heart that the Holy Spirit works in us when we are born to a new life.
Worship
read moreCalvary Lutheran Church offers the gifts of Christ, His grace, mercy and love to all by combining traditional Lutheran liturgy with music, fellowship and inspirational sermons. We encourage you to join with us in Christ as we worship Him each Sunday. Holy Communion is offered on Thursdays and on the first, third and fifth Sunday of every month during both services. Mt. Calvary observes the traditional custom of "closed" communion (meaning that the sacrament is properly shared among those who are in agreement in teaching and practice).
