FIRST, AS A CHILD, what I thought I heard in Sunday School was that if I didn't tithe, I would end up in a very bad place. There seemed to be a wealth of talk about tithing and repentance. So, I dutifully gave a nickel of my fifteen cents weekly allowance for missionaries in some far off land, never expecting to hear from them or receive anything in return.
