Ofadean Salonspa

Her story is like a myth that runs through my family. She was 32 when she died, and had given birth to me just 6 months prior to the car accident that took her life in 1964. There were 8 of us and my sister Anita, the eldest at 14, has held our mother's story close to her heart her entire life so she could share with those too young to remember. Her memories of Ofadean are what guide mine today. When Anita talks of our mother, it is with all the tiny things that mothers do: Ofadean hid birthday gifts, sat with us downtown just to watch people go by.
