Museum & Art Gallery in Independence, MO The Polish Cultural Institute of Winona, Minnesota - known as the Polish Museum - was established and organized in 1976 by Father Paul J. Breza, a native of Winona determined to preserve Polish history. Originally meant to accommodate his own collection of Kashubian history and artifacts, the museum is growing to mirror the cultural and religious heritage of the many Poles who settled in Winona and nearby areas as early as 1855.

About Us

Attending school was the law, and sometimes Polish parents were formally charged with keeping their children out of school so they could work instead.
