The Rockford Dance Company (RDC) is dedicated to excellence in their goal to promote the art of dance through quality performance, education and outreach programming. Jayne Poor and Chuck Hoenes were the original directors of the firm in 1973 when they gathered citywide dancers into a firm to explore a concentration on dance. Rockford was in the midst of its own cultural synergy with organizations such as Charlotte's Web and New American Theater making it easy to imagine a citywide firm of dancers.

Rockford Dance Company also operates a school dedicated to training individuals, age 3 and older, in all areas of dance. Rockford Dance Company offers classes in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, dancer theatre, stretch, conditioning, hip hop and barre-vite. Additionally, Rockford Dance Company is devoted to sharing the many benefits of dance with the Rockford community.
