read moreThe New Orleans campus started with Shifu DeRu starting teaching Tai Chi classes at a local senior center in a health and wellness collaborative effort with Sheriff Harry Lee in 2001. When Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, the Institute was a place of refuge to many students and strangers who had to deal with the stressors of rebuilding. The Institute donated thousands of dollars to assist students in need and provided financial assistance to help hundreds of distressed hurricane victims heal their bodies and minds through Tai Chi and meditation.

read moreOpened in 2008, Atlanta Campus is the newest and biggest campus of among all three campuses of Shaolin Institute system. Separate class-rooms with various training floors for Kung Fu, Tai Gong-Tai Chi and Shaolin Kickboxing (Sanda/Soushou) combat make the campus possible to hold multiple classes simultaneously. This also allows multiple family members or partners to take different classes at the same time. The active SWAT or performance team has been providing Kung Fu and Tai Chi demonstrations along with Shaolin Combat and Lion Dances in many events in Greater Atlanta area.

read moreShaolin Zen, Kung Fu originated over 1500 years ago at the Shaolin Temple in China. It is the practice of Chan (Zen) freedom of mind and body expressed through movement. The goal of Kung Fu is for the practitioner to attain harmony, improve the individual's mental and physical health, and to encourage a deeper level awareness and focus. Students will learn meditation, training in grit and character through forms, applications and practical self-defense skills. We are a cultural institution that promotes the ancient Shaolin principles of honor, compassion, loyalty, integrity, and strength, leading practitioners to inner peace, wisdom and freedom of mind, body and spirit.
