The Sporting Edge was opened by Mike & Paula Richardson in 1990. Mike & Paula had been enjoying competitive water skiing since the early 80's. In 1984 they joined the Ski Centurion promotional staff. They both competed in the Western Regionals, and Paula qualified for the U. S. Nationals. In 1989 Mike decided to retire from his trading career in the International money market and move onto something more enjoyable. Throughout their years of skiing Mike and Paula noticed a lack of knowledgable ski shops in the area. They decided to take their love and experience of the sport and share it with others.

We would like to thank our many customers, some who have purchased 3 or 4 boats from us over the last 31 years, for making Sporting Edge such a successful business. It has been incredible to see many of you come to the store when you were kids, staying in touch with us and eventually getting married and having your own families. We have always enjoyed listening to your great boating stories like the time you purchased a new anchor, only to throw it into the lake with an anchor line that you forgot to tie to a cleat, and how you left a brand new surfboard on the swim platform and drove off, never to be seen again.
