Social & Welfare Services in Wichita, KS
Social & Welfare Services in Wichita, KS Saint Francis Community Services started as the vision of a western Kansas Episcopal minister, Father Robert Mize, Jr. Or Father Bob, as team and youth alike knew him. During the early days of his ministry, Father Bob witnessed young men being termed juvenile delinquents and becoming lost in a system of institutions, reformatories and jail. His vision was to create an alternative, one that would allow these young men to reclaim their potential. Through Father Bob's tireless efforts the domestic facility in Ellsworth, known as St. Francis Boys? Home, opened its doors in 1945 to a dozen uncertain, unruly young men in search of a better tomorrow.

read moreThe Rev. Robert Mize Jr., an Episcopal priest, founded Saint Francis Boys' Home nearly seven decades ago in Ellsworth, Kansas. Fr. Bob had seen too many troubled youth disappear forever into the juvenile justice system, and he wanted to help them reclaim their lives and their futures. He offered hope. Over the years, the scope of our ministry has grown, encompassing foster care, therapeutic foster care, adoption, family preservation, residential care, international ministries, and community outreach services.
read moreThere are many children waiting for a loving, caring, supportive place to call home. Adoption can be the best way to give them the live and security they need, providing a sense of belonging and a supportive place to call home. Adopting a child is a life-changing experience and is a commitment that should be considered carefully. We are here to explain the process, answer your questions, and provide guidance. We provide services for children who are available for adoption. Our organization seeks loving, supportive families who can provide for children's needs while they are going through the separation and loss of their birth family and becoming a permanent part of a stable, loving family.
